Tour of Happiness...

Happiness does not necessarily mean overall finding value or a purpose in life.

Happiness is enjoying the small things in life…The smile on baby’s face after seeing mother’s face after a long time, seeing a butterfly on the window, seeing a child’s face while getting drenched in the rains, seeing neighbour keeping her door open for us, helping a senior person cross the road, seeing drops of rain falling on thirsty earth during famine…all this is nothing but a happiness.

During our work for “Paani” foundation in rural areas of Maharashtra, we realised that there are many souls in the countryside who have never touched Taluka place of the region, nor even seen a train in their life time. All they did was to do the laborious work in their fields, raise their children and take care of their parents. That’s all. They are hardly aware of expressing themselves, giving vent to their feelings of stress and tension and are miles away from spending urban concept of “Me Time”.

Through our interaction with them we realised that momentary joys of spending quality merry time would bring happiness in their lives and give them strength to engage themselves in their mundane chores of daily routine in a better manner.

This was the moment when the seed of “Tour of Happiness” was sown. Mumbai, the city of dreams is attracting people due to its skyline, Bollywood glamour and its vast coastline. So we decided to bring people from the selected villages to visit landmarks of Mumbai on a 2 two days “Tour of Happiness”. We give preference especially to those who have never crossed even the boundaries of their villages and to those elderly people who have spent their life never for themselves.

People from all walks of life who care for others, who have understood our concept of “sharing happiness” sponsored this tour in many ways and have contributed to this cause generously.

Our agency has been present for over 30 years. We make the best for all our children.

Highlights of our Tour

Glamourous Mumbai has a religious side too which was shown to our friends. Many worshippers flock beautiful temples, serene churches and glorious mosques.

Siddhivinayak temple dedicated to Ganpati Bappa is a standing testament of beauty and architecture. Ancient Church of Mount Mary is sited on top of a hill known as “Sunderban Bandra” overlooks the mighty Arabian Sea. Haji Ali Dargah is the most historical landmark of South Mumbai. The dargah is connected to land by a pathway that has water on both the sides and gives some spectacular views of the Mumbai skyline.

The symbol of Mumbai Nagari Gateway of India is the historical landmark admired by our tourist friends after Chhatrapati Maharaj Terminus, a UNESCO world heritage site. Tourist friends remain speechless after visiting 100 year old grand Taj Mahal hotel which has stood the test of time and 2008 terrorist attacks brave heartedly.

People feel overwhelmed after visiting buzzing Girgaon Chowpaty,a Bandra Fort near Bandstand and enjoy mouth watering street food. A Metro ride gives our travellers a typical busy feel of famous Mumbai Commute. A visit to sets of daily soap opera shoots like Chhatrapati Sambhaji and many more, give them opportunity to witness behind the camera experience and also to see and meet their REEL heroes and heroines on the sets which is beyond their expectations experience!

Last but not the least, the tour ends with a health camp organised specially for them to make them aware of their own health and arrangement of mediation sessions and health tips.

On their way back home they carry with them everlasting memories and most cherished moments of the tour.

Then one day an idea cropped up in our minds: What if we take them to a happiness tour that they have never experienced… thus began the journey of Anand Foundation!

The primary goal of Anand Foundation is to plan a nice trip for those who have hardly crossed the boundary of their village.

People from Villages

Each one of us cherishes a village inside our mind. And everybody wishes to do something for that village and the villagers. As far as the education, governmental schemes, computer, health, infrastructure facilities and many such fields are concerned; we do try and help the villagers in some or the other way. We met some villagers during the implementation of one such water scheme. We realized then that even today there are numerous villages in Maharashtra where the residents, particularly the elders have never seen even the taluka place. We urban dwellers travel from metro or aeroplanes. But these people have not even seen a train.
